Webcam is blocked by another application
If you are receiving the error “Webcam is blocked by another application” when trying to use the Virtual Try-On tool, there are a few places to check to ensure your webcam is accessible. Depending on the device or browser you are using the common examples below may not be exact—check for similar wording in your own device or browser settings.
If you are using a PC with Windows it lets you easily control which apps and programs can access your camera. Please go to Settings and then “Devices” to make sure your camera shows up in your device list. If it does not, you may need to reinstall the software. If it does, next go to Settings > Privacy and then locate “Camera” in the left-hand panel under “App Permissions.” Click here, and make sure your camera is set to “On” as well as the browser apps you are using to access Zenni.
Additional tip: You will see “Last Accessed” and a date under any app that has previously used your camera, or red “Currently in use” for apps accessing your camera currently. This may help identify the app causing the block.
If you are using Google Chrome, go to Settings > Privacy and Security > Site Settings and then click on “Camera.” Make sure that the Zenni URL is under “Allow” and not “Block.” Also make sure that the correct camera is listed in the dropdown at the top of this page, and that “Ask before accessing” is toggled on. Firefox functions similarly.
If you are using a smart phone or tablet, go to your settings and check the Apps section. Choose the app for the browser you are using, or the Zenni app if you have installed it, and make sure the camera is set to “Allow Access” in the settings for that individual app.
