What are ANSI Z87.1 Safety Glasses for?
Our ANSI Z87.1 safety glasses are made for working in an area that has particles, flying objects, or dust. If you work in this type of environment, your employer may require you to wear ANSI Z87.1 safety glasses.
What does it mean when glasses have been tested with ANSI Z87.1 standards?
The American National Standards Institute is a private, non-profit organization that creates quality and safety standards for a wide variety of products, including safety eyewear. Its standard for eye protection, ANSI Z87. 1, establishes the criteria for using, testing, marking, choosing, and maintaining eye protection to prevent or minimize injuries from eye hazards.
I’m required to get ANSI Z87.1 safety glasses for work. Which safety glasses satisfy this requirement?
The following frame styles are ANSI Z87.1: 7494, 7496, 7497, 7498, 7499 and satisfy OSHA requirements for eye safety in the workplace.
What lenses and options can I get with Z87.1 safety glasses?
We offer prescription single-vision and progressive lenses in polycarbonate, Trivex® and Blokz™ Trivex® lenses.
Can I turn my Z87.1 safety glasses into sunglasses?
We currently do not offer tinted, polarized, or photochromic lenses for Z87.1 safety glasses.
How can I tell if the frame and lenses qualify for Z87.1 standards?
Z87.1 glasses will be designated with a “Z87-2+” or “Z87+” marking on the frame. Your prescription lenses will also be etched with “Zenni+” to designate the safety rating as required by ANSI.
